COST AND MASS ANALYSIS
Prior to purchasing the parts of the project an analysis was performed by comparing different materials in terms of cost and mass. The base was the largest part of the project, thus it had to be light so an average person could easily install it without much effort. In this case a decision was made to make it out of aluminum. With this in mind the supports which are significantly smaller could be made out of stronger material such as A36 steel to retain structural integrity.
